Iran Confirms Nuclear Material Trapped Under Rubble After Israeli Airstrikes

By DAYO ADESULU

The Iranian government has revealed that its enriched nuclear material is trapped beneath the rubble of bombed facilities following recent military clashes with Israel.

According to a report by The Times of Israel on September 11, 2025, Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, disclosed the development during a televised interview.

He stated that all of Iran’s enriched nuclear material is buried under the remains of facilities destroyed in the strikes.

> “All of our material is under the rubble of the bombed facilities,” Araghchi said.

The revelation has raised serious concerns about the safety, accessibility, and long-term management of Iran’s nuclear resources.

Iran’s Nuclear Program Faces Major Setback

The destruction of the nuclear sites has created a significant challenge for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), which is now tasked with assessing the condition of the trapped material. Officials are currently investigating whether the enriched material remains intact, poses immediate risks, or can be safely recovered.

The AEOI is preparing a comprehensive report for the Supreme National Security Council, detailing the extent of the damage, the safety status of the material, and possible recovery options.

Global Implications

The findings will play a decisive role in shaping Iran’s next steps regarding its nuclear program, a long-standing source of international tension.

Analysts warn that the compromised state of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure not only threatens domestic safety but also intensifies global scrutiny of its nuclear ambitions.

The recent conflict with Israel has not only crippled Iran’s nuclear facilities but also further complicated diplomatic efforts surrounding the country’s atomic program.
