The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has temporarily suspended the selection of examination towns for candidates registering for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) who intend to sit the examination in Ekiti State.
The Board explained that the suspension is part of an urgent adjustment process aimed at restructuring examination towns to ensure closer proximity to candidates and ease transportation challenges during the examination period.
Structural Anomalies Discovered
According to JAMB, the 2026 UTME registration commenced before certain structural anomalies were detected in the configuration of examination towns within Ekiti State. These anomalies, if left unaddressed, could inconvenience candidates during centre allocation.
As a result, candidates will be unable to select any examination town in Ekiti State while the adjustment process is ongoing.
The Board assured candidates that the restructuring exercise would be concluded shortly.
Commitment to Candidate Welfare
JAMB expressed regret over any inconvenience the temporary suspension may cause, noting that the decision was taken in the best interest of candidates.
“As a matter of practice, the Board continuously monitors its operations and promptly addresses challenges reported by candidates,” the statement read.
The Board reaffirmed its commitment to treating all candidates with dignity and respect while improving its processes to enhance efficiency and fairness.
