Nigeria Clears Index Case Contacts Of Coronavirus

Dr Osagie Ehanire, the Minister of Health on Friday said that the index case contact of the coronavirus is now tested negative.

Ehanire disclosed that the person who had contact with the Italian citizen and was quarantined has now been tested negative, adding that he would soon be discharged.

Ehanire who spoke in Abuja to journalists said: “The contact of the index case is testing negative for the virus now, meaning he has cleared the virus and will be allowed to go home.

“The index case is clinically stable and is much improved. Stable progress until next week will guide the medical team in discharging him.”

He added that a group of four teachers from the United States, along with their two students are currently quarantined in Lagos State.

On imposition of travelling ban, he said his stance on the non-imposition of travel ban remains, noting that the Federal Government has not placed a travel ban on any country yet.

”The current status of Covid -19 in the country does not require a travel ban on any country, he said.”
