“Nigeria Is Still in Chains” – Engineer Adekoya’s Wake-Up Call at Independence Event

By DAYO ADESULU

Ikorodu, Lagos – Sixty-five years after the lowering of the Union Jack, Engineer Adekoya says Nigeria is yet to taste true freedom.

Addressing hundreds at the “Beyond Independence: Living in True Freedom” program in Ikorodu, the Patron of the International Friendship League (IFL) painted a stark picture of a nation shackled by greed, corruption, and weak leadership.

“Independence without financial discipline, moral uprightness, and visionary leadership cannot sustain true freedom,” he declared, drawing thunderous applause.

He urged citizens to break free from financial slavery by saving, investing, and creating wealth that outlives their active years. He also warned that without spiritual rebirth and moral courage, Nigerians will remain prisoners in their own country.

For him, Nigeria’s greatest tragedy is not the absence of resources but the failure of leaders to harness them. “We broke free from colonial rule in 1960, but the chains of corruption and poor governance still hold us down,” he lamented.

His message was clear: the future belongs to a Nigeria that combines financial wisdom, spiritual renewal, and patriotism.
