Nigerian Army Warns Public Against Impersonators of COAS, Lt. Gen. Oluyede

The Nigerian Army has raised an alarm over the increasing number of fraudsters impersonating the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, on various social media platforms.

🚨 Fraudulent Activities & New Tactics

Scammers are using the official portrait of the COAS as their profile picture while engaging unsuspecting individuals in online meetings via Zoom, WhatsApp, and Facebook.

⚠️ Modus Operandi of the Fraudsters:
🔸 Fixing fake virtual meetings under the guise of official Army engagements
🔸 Requesting participants to share numbers displayed on their screens
🔸 Individually engaging participants and defrauding them

Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, emphasized that the Army has well-established communication protocols that do not involve social media meetings with the public.
