60 ‎Worshippers In Kaduna: Abductors Demand Bags Of Rice, Groundnut Oil As Ransom

Abductors of the 60 ‎worshippers in Kaduna State who previously demanded a huge amount of money as ransom for their captives have now demanded some bags of rice and groundnut oil to feed the victims in their custody.

They threatened the families of victims that if the food items are not provided urgently, the victims will be starved to death.

Gunmen had invaded Emanuel Baptist Church located in Kakau Daji in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna a week ago.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Kaduna, Reverend John Hayab, told Daily Trust that the abductors are demanding a huge amount of money as ransom.

A member of the community whose relatives are among those abducted told Daily Trust on Friday that the bandits called on Thursday night to demand food items from the community.

‎Speaking on the condition of anonymity, he said, “We were told they called on Thursday night demanding for five bags of rice, four gallons of groundnut oil, ‎Maggi carton and salt that failure to provide these items it means the victims will not eat,” he said.

He added that the bandits seem to be more concerned about the foodstuffs which they claimed will be used to feed the victims.

He said they kept on emphasising that if the food items were not provided, the victims will be left in hunger.

The State State Commissioner Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan confirmed the abduction in a statement a day after the incident, saying the bandits also killed one worshipper during the attack.
