HEROIC EFFORTS: LASTMA and Emergency Responders Save 3 Lives in Ojuelegba, Lagos Accident

At around 10:30 p.m. on September 24, 2023, employees of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), police officers, and other emergency personnel freed three people trapped in a saloon car at the Ojuelegba Inward Stadium on Funsho Williams Avenue in Surulere, Lagos.

A 40-foot container fell on top of a Toyota Corolla automobile (JJJ 811 FB) at the top of the Ojuelegba bridge inside the stadium, according to Traffic Officer Olajide Olukoga “Bravo,” who oversaw the Lastma rescue efforts there.

He added that just one (a man) of the three victims removed from the Toyota Corolla saloon car emerged from it unharmed and was let to leave right away.

The remaining 2 rescued casualties (an adult male and a female) were rushed to hospital by an ambulance belonging to Lasema.

Police men from Surulere Police Division were at the scene to provide adequate security.

While the entire Ojuelegba bridge inwards Stadium was temporarily closed and traffic diverted to the service lane by Lastma Officials.

Rescue and recovery operators completed at 11:30pm yesterday night and the temporary closed Ojuelegba bridge was opened back for vehicular movement by Lastma officials by 11:20pm yesterday night.
