Insecurity: Christians Should Devise Means Of Defence, Riverine Security Urges

The volunteered Coast -Guard of the Federation, also known as the Riverine Security has urged Christians in Nigeria to go beyond praying to God for protection.

The group who had initially volunteered to assist the Federal Government fight insurgents now calling on Churches and Christians to devise physical measures for self-defence.

Bibi Oduku, the commander of the group on Tuesday in Abuja said that government seemed unprepared to secure lives and property of Nigerians.

Oduku said: ”Going by recent happenings in the country, especially the deteriorating security situation, we call on Christians to rise up and defend themselves in the light of the unwillingness of the government to play its primary role of securing lives and properties.

“Christians should take the present targeted attacks beyond prayers as no one region or ethnic group or religion has a monopoly of violence, urging believers to devise means to physically defend themselves.”
