Gunmen Abduct 20 Residents In Abuja

Gunmen have stormed residents of Tungan Maje village, a community in Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

It was gathered that the armed abductors stormed the village and went away with twenty persons in the community.

Eye witnessed said that the vigilantes in the community resisted the gunmen but were overpowered by the kidnappers who eventually went away with their victims to Niger State.

Confirming the incident, the FCT police spokesman, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, said only ten persons were kidnapped.

According to him, five persons among the victims have been rescued by the police.

”A joint team of police operatives from the Command Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Rapid Response Squad and the Zuba Police Division rescued them.

Manzah said:  “The command wishes to inform the public that when it received a distress call on the kidnap of some persons on September 10, 2020, at about 0130hrs in Tungan Maje, a village bordering FCT and Niger state, a joint team of police operatives from the command Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Rapid Response Squad and Zuba Police Division responded swiftly.

“During a fierce gun confrontation with the heavily armed hoodlums, the police team successfully rescued five of the kidnapped victims.”
