Delta State Polytechnic’s Students Protest N5,000 COVID-19 Levy

BY SEYIFUNMI LUMEKO

Students of the Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro have trooped out in protest against the N5, 000 COVID-19 fees imposed by the management.

The polytechnic had announced that every student will a mandatory N5, 000 for COVID-19 test for all students returning for the 2019/2020 academic session.

Their protest has apparently disrupted vehicular and commuters movement toward the school gate as the aggrieved students barricaded the main entrance of the institution.

Recall that the polytechnic had last issued a circular compelling student to pay the levy to enhance adequate health and safety preparations for students resumption.

The protesters who are seeking a reversal of the N5,000 levy urged the Delta State Government to call the school authority to order.
