Fresh concerns have erupted across the Middle East after explosions in Iranian cities were reported early Thursday, with witnesses describing intense military activity across several regions of the country.
Multiple Cities Hit by Early Morning Blasts
Residents in key locations across Iran reported hearing explosions and seeing unusual aerial movements between the early hours of the morning.
The incidents were recorded in cities including Karaj, Ahvaz, Shiraz, and Mahabad, suggesting a widespread and coordinated pattern of disturbance.
Karaj Residents Report Projectiles and Explosions
In Karaj, located in Alborz Province west of Tehran, witnesses described a tense situation just before dawn.
According to residents in the Azimiyeh district, at least three projectiles were seen in the sky moments before a loud explosion shook the area. The situation escalated further as additional blasts were reported in nearby Mehrshahr at approximately 2:28 a.m.
By around 3:45 a.m., more explosions were heard across both Mehrshahr and Mohammadshahr districts, deepening fears among residents.
Twin Blasts Reported in Ahvaz
In the southwestern city of Ahvaz, which lies in the oil-rich Khuzestan Province, witnesses reported two powerful explosions within minutes of each other.
The blasts, heard at approximately 3:11 a.m. and 3:13 a.m., sent shockwaves through the area, raising concerns about possible strategic targets given the region’s economic importance.
Aircraft Activity Reported in Northwestern Iran
Further north, in Mahabad, residents reported hearing what sounded like a military aircraft or fighter jet passing overhead around 4:30 a.m.
Although no explosions were immediately confirmed in the area, the aerial activity added to growing speculation about coordinated military operations.
Shiraz Residents Hear سلسلة of Explosions
In Shiraz, the capital of Fars Province in southern Iran, witnesses described multiple consecutive explosions at around 4:40 a.m.
Residents reported being jolted awake by the blasts, with some describing the sounds as unusually intense and prolonged.

As of the time of reporting, Iranian authorities have not issued an official statement explaining the cause of the explosions in Iranian cities.
