Prof. Segun Aina Launches ‘JAMB 2031: Building Trust, Reducing Trauma’ Vision
The newly appointed Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Segun Aina, has officially assumed office with an ambitious five-year strategic roadmap designed to transform the examination body into Africa’s most trusted, innovative, and technology-driven admissions institution.
Speaking on his first day in office, Prof. Aina described his appointment as “a homecoming and a solemn responsibility,” pledging to consolidate the achievements of his predecessor, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, while introducing new reforms that would strengthen transparency, improve service delivery, and deepen public confidence in JAMB.
‘JAMB 2031’ Development Agenda
The new Registrar unveiled a strategic blueprint titled “JAMB 2031: Building Trust, Reducing Trauma,” a five-year development plan covering 2026 to 2031.
According to Prof. Aina, the programme is built around Project 2:5:7, comprising two strategic objectives, five enduring pillars, and seven flagship initiatives aimed at modernising the Board and positioning it as a globally respected institution driven by technology, integrity, and stakeholder confidence.
He reaffirmed that JAMB’s core responsibility remains providing fair, transparent, secure, and merit-based access to tertiary education through credible registration, examinations, and admissions processes.
Five Pillars for JAMB’s Future
Prof. Aina explained that his administration would focus on five key pillars:
Integrity – The Foundation: Strengthening institutional credibility through internationally recognised standards, including ISO 27001 certification, independent technology reviews, and transparent systems.
Service – The Heart: Enhancing customer experience with better communication, responsive service delivery, and stronger engagement with candidates, parents, and institutions.
Governance – The Framework: Improving performance monitoring, accountability, operational resilience, and efficient contract management.
Technology – The Enabler: Expanding JAMB’s digital infrastructure through mobile platforms, web applications, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and improved printing systems.
Partnerships – The Multiplier: Building stronger collaborations with banks, fintech firms, educational institutions, and international partners to enhance innovation and service delivery.
Seven Flagship Initiatives
To translate the vision into measurable results, the Registrar announced seven major projects that will drive the transformation over the next five years.
These include an independent review of JAMB’s technology infrastructure, ISO 27001 Information Security Certification, development of a unified JAMB mobile application, strategic communication and brand repositioning, creation of a unified customer service platform, implementation of a paperless digital administration system, and enhanced staff welfare and capacity development.
Prof. Aina said the initiatives are intended to make the Board more digitally integrated, efficient, secure, and responsive while boosting public trust in its operations.
People Remain the Greatest Asset
While emphasising technology as a key driver of reform, Prof. Aina stressed that people would remain at the centre of JAMB’s transformation.
He noted that every candidate represents the hopes and aspirations of Nigerian families, promising to simplify processes, improve communication, and uphold fairness, transparency, and integrity in all the Board’s activities. He also urged members of staff to embrace professionalism, teamwork, and innovation, saying strong institutions are built by people united around shared values and a common purpose.
As he begins his tenure, the new Registrar reaffirmed his commitment to building systems that will outlast individuals, deepen public confidence, and establish JAMB as a global benchmark for technology-driven examination and admissions administration.
