A Lagos State Chief Magistrate Court at the Samuel Ilori Court House in Ogba has ordered the imprisonment of Akande Omogbemi and Abubakar Mayaki, suspected in the murder of local government staffer Kazeem Idowu Keshinro.
The Nigerian Police presented four suspects, including Mukaila Salawu, known as “Actor,” along with Tiyamiyu Ahmed, Wasiu Suleimon, and Ibrahim Ekemode, before Magistrate Lateef Owolabi. Omogbemi and Mayaki were declared at large.
During today’s proceedings, prosecuting counsel Mrs. Abiola Adeoye informed the court of the situation and requested a remand order pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP). Defendants’ counsel, Bright Uleyo, opposed the application, arguing there was insufficient evidence to support it.
Magistrate Owolabi granted the remand request, ordering the suspects to be held in Kirikiri prison for thirty days while awaiting the DPP’s legal advice. The case is set for mention on October 10.
According to police charges, the suspects allegedly conspired to commit robbery on April 1, 2024, at Otta Ikosi Agbowa, in violation of Section 299 of the Lagos State Criminal Laws. They also face charges of unlawfully killing Idowu Keshinro, contravening Section 233 of the same laws.
Idowu, described as a hunter and staffer of Ikosi-Ejirin local government, was tragically captured on video in a pool of blood, recounting how he was ambushed and attacked during a hunting trip in Ikorodu, Lagos State, allegedly at the command of Mukaila Salau, the notorious land grabber present at the scene.
