Anambra Assures NYSC Members Maximum Security

Residents of Umuawulu and Mbaukwu in Awka South local government area of Anambra state have assured corps members deployed to the state of maximum security in the area.

The communities are privileged to have the new NYSC permanent orientation camp in the state located in their land, at the same time hosting the first set of corps members to be undergoing the 3-weeks course in the new facility.

The monarchs of both communities gave the assurance separately on Thursday during the swearing in ceremony of 2019 batch ‘C’ orientation course at Umuawulu/Mbaukwu, Awka South local government area of the state.

Speaking to newsmen, the traditional ruler of Mbaukwu, Igwe Peter Anukwu noted that although the camp was yet to be completed, there was no cause for alarm in view of the security and peaceful atmosphere in the area.

He said he had been involved in the construction of orientation camps in some states in the country, including that of Akwa-Ibom, Enugu and currently Anambra.

“I’ve been involved the construction of some orientation camps in the country, but I must confess that this one should be the best design project for the NYSC, he said.

The monarch who put the completion stage of the camp at 95%, assured that the security of the corps members would not be compromised in course of the construction.

He added, “We’re at the landscaping stage now. But we are planning to add another coach to the fence to increase the height to as to forestall external invasion.

The traditional ruler of Umuawulu, Igwe Joel Egwuonwu, said his people were ready to offer to the corps members the warm reception and hospitality they deserved.

Governor Willie Obiano, while welcoming the corps members to the state, expressed hope that the conducive atmosphere of the new permanent orientation camp would offer to them the needed impetus to carry out the course successfully.

“We’ve committed a lot of resources into the erection of this state of the art and the best orientation camp nationwide and to whom much is given, much is equally expected.

NYSC State Coordinator, Mr. Kehinde Aremu announced that a total of 1851 prospective corps members comprising of 1072 females and 779 males were registered in the camp.

He thanked the executive and legislative arms of the state government for their support towards ensuring the delivery of state of art orientation camp in the state.

He also appreciated the monarchs of Mbaukwu and Umuawulu for their love and enthusiasm to host the corps members in their communities.
