Apapa Boat Mishap:10 Dead Bodies Recover, 3 Missing

No fewer than ten persons have been confirmed dead and three others missing during the boat mishap that occurs on Wednesday at the Kirikiri jetty, Apapa, Lagos State.

Eighteen persons on board the boat from Kirikiri were headed to Bdegary at around 5:50 pm when the engine stopped midway. Five of them were rescued by Marine Police operatives.

Bala Elkana, the Police spokesman who confirmed the accident said that the ten dead bodies have been recovered while three others still missing.

He said families of the deceased were still claiming their bodies, while the search was on for the three missing persons.

Elkana said: “There were 18 people in the boat. It left Kirikiri for Badagry but developed a fault with the engine.

“Five people were rescued alive by the Marine Police unit, 10 persons died and three are still missing,”
