APC Acting National Chair Inaugurates Edo State Election And Appeal Panels

Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress(APC) has inaugurated the Edo State Election and Appeal panels to conduct the June 22 primary for the emergency of its party flag bearer ahead of the September 19 governorship election.

Represented by the National Vice Chairman South-South, Hon. Hillard Eta, the acting National Chairman said that the inauguration was in line with the resolution of the National Working Committee (NWC) at its 45th Emergency meeting in Abuja on Wednesday.

Ajimobi said the task before the Governor Hope Uzodinma – led election committee is to conduct the Edo primary while the Appeal panel will look into any complaint from the exercise.

According to him: “The party has commenced the process of the Edo primaries with the inauguration of Screening Committee and the Appeal Committee of that screening. So we are almost at the culmination of that process. It is with deep humility that I want to announce to Nigerians that those we have selected to do this onerous and herculean job for the party were carefully selected, some of the finest and best amongst us.

“Their job is very simple, to carry out the process selecting the flag bearer of the party in Edo State and we know that after that exercise, there may be concerns, disagreements, that is why we have constituted members of the APC Governorship Primary Election Appeal Committee”.

Responding, Uzodinma said the committee was honoured by the assignment and promised to do justice and ensure that APC wins the Edo state governorship election.

Uzodinma said the current travail of the party was caused by enemies of APC but all issues will be resolved and the party will come out victorious.

Reacting on behalf of the five-man election appeal panel, its secretary, Dr Kayode Ajulo, said members will do justice as an impartial body to protect the integrity of the ruling party adding that the task ahead of the committee “is a great challenge but with God, the committee will deliver”.
