Babcock University Expels Student Oladipupo Siwajuola for Violating University Rules

By DAYO ADESULU

Babcock University, located in Illisan-Remo, Ogun State, has officially expelled Oladipupo Siwajuola, a student previously reported as “missing” in a widely circulated social media campaign. The university’s administration described the dismissal as a result of a “gross violation of university rules.”

In a statement released on June 4, 2025, by Dr. Joshua Suleiman, the Director of Marketing and Communication, Babcock University outlined the findings of a thorough investigation that uncovered multiple severe infractions. These violations included impersonation, drug peddling, and involvement in occult practices associated with internet fraud rituals, locally termed “Yahoo Yahoo Plus.”

Timeline of Events

Oladipupo reportedly left the university on April 28, 2025, disguised in a hoodie and exited through the teaching hospital gate without proper authorization. This departure contradicted claims made by his mother, who alleged that he had been abducted and later found by friends from his secondary school. The university clarified that Oladipupo had been residing in Lagos with a friend named Sodiq, a fact discovered by Sodiq’s mother, who later returned Oladipupo to his family amid the online controversy surrounding his disappearance.

Upon his return to the university on May 15, accompanied by his father, Oladipupo provided a detailed statement to the institution’s Security Services Department. His admissions were further corroborated before the Disciplinary Committee.

Admissions and Violations

During the investigation, Oladipupo confessed to several serious infractions, including:
– Purchasing and using fetish substances from a traditional herbalist for nearly ₦100,000, contradicting his mother’s claims regarding a skin condition.
– Involvement in drug peddling on campus, for which he had been apprehended by university security prior to his disappearance.
– Impersonating another student by using their National Identification Number (NIN) to open a bank account.
– Selling his phone without the necessary permissions and falsely claiming that his father had approved the sale.
– Borrowing ₦500,000 from an online loan platform to fund gambling activities.

Following his confession, the Disciplinary Committee found Oladipupo guilty of several offenses, including unauthorized exit from campus, possession and use of fetish materials, drug peddling, impersonation, dishonesty, and unauthorized sale of personal property.

University’s Stance

The university stated that the decision to expel Oladipupo was in accordance with its disciplinary policy aimed at maintaining a secure and morally sound learning environment. He retains the right to appeal the decision as outlined in the student handbook.

In a surprising twist, the institution condemned the “malicious and unfounded” allegations made by Oladipupo’s mother, who earlier accused the university of failing to ensure her son’s safety. Babcock University highlighted that her public accusations were contradicted by her son’s own admissions and implied a potential prior knowledge of his actions, including the use of fetish materials.

In a gesture of reconciliation, the university recognized the “responsible conduct and integrity” of Oladipupo’s father, stating it would not pursue legal action for libel.

Commitment to Integrity

Babcock University reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, discipline, and moral integrity in managing student affairs. The institution urged parents and guardians to guide their children towards accountability and truthfulness.

“We encourage the public to disregard false information and continue collaborating with us in nurturing a generation of young men and women who embody courage, truth, and responsibility,” the statement concludes
