In what looks like a renewed attack by Boko Haram, six soldiers and an Army officer were killed during a battle with Boko Haram fighters in Mainok, close to Maiduguri the Borno State capital.
It was gathered from security sources that the incident which occurred at about 1 pm on Tuesday, also left five soldiers wounded and two others missing.
Nonetheless, unspecified numbers of Boko Haram fighters were killed and several others injured.
“Two gun trucks and three anti-aircraft equipment could not be accounted for following the attack.” our source disclosed.
The source also confirmed that the bodies of the fallen soldiers have been recovered and the wounded moved to a medical facility for treatment.
Director of Army Public Relations (DAPR), Colonel Sagir Musa, could not take his calls to confirm the incident.
