BY QUADRI SALIU

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB),  has been rearrested and extradited to Nigeria by the joint efforts of Nigeria and the United Kingdom to face his trial.

Nigeria’s Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, broke the news Tuesday during a joint press briefing with the State Security Service (SSS) in Abuja.

Malami confirmed that the international collaborative efforts with security agencies led to Mr Kanu’s arrest and repatriation to Nigeria.

The arrest of self-acclaimed Biafran leader, Nnamdi Kanu is coming after over two years of man-hunting by the Nigerian government under President Muhammadu Buhari.

Justice Binta Nyako who granted him bail on the ground of his ill-health had revoked the bail on March 28, 2019, and issued a bench warrant for his arrest in any part of Nigeria.

He, however, confirmed that Kanu will appear before the federal high court today, for the continuation of his trial.
