Fraudsters Target Nigerians with Fake Contract Award Letters
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has cautioned the public against falling victim to fraudsters claiming to have received contract award letters for construction projects. These individuals often falsely assert connections with the apex bank to swindle unsuspecting Nigerians.
Mrs. Hakama Ali, the Acting Director of the CBN’s Corporate Communications Department, made this known in a statement, highlighting the fraudulent schemes.
CBN Clarifies Discontinuation of Direct Interventions
The CBN has reaffirmed its stance on discontinuing direct development interventions and special project funding. Mrs. Ali stressed that the bank has not issued public notices for such interventions on social media or other news platforms.
“The CBN remains focused on its core mandate of ensuring monetary and price stability, and a sound and efficient financial system in Nigeria,” she said.
Public Advised to Stay Vigilant
The CBN urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies. Mrs. Ali warned against engaging with claims of financial interventions purportedly authorized by the bank.
“Any such assertions are fraudulent and should be disregarded,” she emphasized.
