CIAPS To Unveil NGRCampus Student Help Desk

Lagos based international graduate school, CIAPS, is set to unveil an initiative with which it will provide information and guidance to students and others in campuses of higher learning across the country. The platform tagged NGRCampus Student Help Desk will be unveiled at the CIAPS Hall on Tuesday, 29th October.

In a statement released by Nonso Odogwu, a CIAPS student of Media and Communication, the Centre confirmed the Help Desk is being hosted by NGRCampus, a platform designed at CIAPS as a place for information and expression of ideas for students in tertiary institutions.

In commenting on the project, CIAPS Centre Director, Prof Anthony Kila noted that research and consultations show that students – and indeed other members of our institutions of higher learning – face and witness various forms of harassment, intimidation as well as other forms of abuse without having informal, but organized, expert ears to report or talk to. Kila pointed that such lacuna has encouraged impunity and a sense of helplessness. NgrCampus Student Help Desk, he noted, has been conceived to help solve such problems.

Explaining how this CIAPS Project will work, Nonso Odogwu explained that the NgrCampus Student Help Desk will be managed by a team of experts of legal affairs as well as psychologists, trained counselors and people with good understanding of university affairs.

Prof Kila used the occasion to send an appeal to all caring and capable individuals, professionals and organizations to come forward to join and support the initiative by offering their expertise, time, idea and other support. Kila warned that a society that does not pay special attention to the formation of its young minds cannot be a great society.
