Court Fines DSS, Gives 24hrs Ultimatum For Sowore’s Release

A judge of the Federal High court sitting in Abuja, Ijeoma Ojukwu, has fined the Department of State Services (DSS).

Ojukwu fine the DSS the  sum of N100,000 for disobeying an order for the release Omoyele Sowore,

Justice Ojukwu said that the DSS cannot constitute itself as parallel court of law. Ojukwu, therefore, mandated the DSS to release the activist within 24 hours.

Recall that the operatives of the Department of State Services arrested pro-democracy activist and the convener of #RevolutionNow Protests, Omoyele Sowore on 2 August, 2019.

The DSS picked up Sowore  at his apartment in the early hours of that Saturday.

The Court granted him bail, but the DSS has since kept him in their custody.
