DUFIL Empowers Students Towards LEARN Initiative

Education is regarded as the bedrock for the wholesome development of any society. It is one of the core values close to the heart of Dufil Prima Foods. Dufil has over the years been  seeking to promote  education  through many of their activities.

Once again,Dufil Prima Food has  donated educational materials and cash to Leadership Empowerment And Resource Network (LEARN). LEARN is an  initiative of the former First Lady of Lagos State, Mrs. Abimbola Fashola.

 Functions of LEARN

LEARN is a non-profit programme committed towards leadership development, entrepreneurial skill acquisition, sexuality education, character development and vocational skills acquisition.

The programme caters to young people between the ages of 9 and 17.  Its activities include; summer school program, timeout with the youths, excursion visits, afterschool program, scholarship programme and youth empowerment programme.

Speaking during the summer school programme on Wednesday 28th August, at the LEARN Centre in Lagos, Group Public Relations and Events Manager for Dufil Mr. Tope Ashiwaju, said the firm has partnered with LEARN for the past 12 years.

He added that Dufil was proud of LEARN’s consistency over the years in creating alternative platforms for learning. And breaking barriers for students in public schools by keeping them away from antisocial practices during the summer holiday. Ashiwaju  also commended the indigent scholarship programme where students from low income backgrounds are offered the opportunity to attend leading educational institutions across the country.

Dufil pledges continuous support for LEARN

Ashiwaju said, “In cash, we will be supporting the initiative with Five hundred thousand naira and also with educational materials this year. As a brand, Indomie will keep supporting and empowering young people who need to be equipped with the much needed skills to help them become future leaders. We will continue to partner with LEARN to educate, create opportunities and a better future for Nigeria’s teeming young population.”

Ashiwaju further charged the students to value the knowledge acquired through the LEARN initiative because it could not be quantified. He enjoined the pupils to note that hard work is vital to their success. He stressed that success could only be attained through focus on their studies. ”The brand will keep supporting and encouraging young children in realizing their potential,” He said.

The Chief Operating Officer, LEARN, Mrs Ronke Oguntoyinbo, commended Dufil Prima Foods for their yearly support. She said: ”This shows the level of dedication and sense of duty the company has shown towards youths educational development in Nigerian. 

Speaking on behalf of the impressive students, Miss Vera Nwabueze, a student of LEARN said she is happy to be a beneficiary of LEARN.  She also thanked Dufil for their support and encouragement towards the summer initiative programme.
