Gov Prerogative Of Mercy: Obaseki Releases One, Converts 4 Death Sentenced To Life

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo States on Thursday, exercised his power on the prerogative of mercy under section 212 and freed a prisoner and converted four others sentenced to death to life imprisonment.

Obaseki gave the approval in the exercise of the powers conferred on him under section 212 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, as amended, on the recommendation of the Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy.

The four Prisoners whose sentences were transmuted from death row to life imprisonment are Ayo Olofin, Abiodun Uwagboe, Sanni Ladan and Joel Ighalo. Mr Emejor Amos was released in the same vein.
