Hope for Nigeria as Muhammad Bande Assumes UN Top Position

The Federal Government yesterday expressed hope for actualisation of major goals of Nigeria and the African continent at large as the country’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Professor Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, assumes the presidency of the General Assembly of the global body.

The inauguration formalities hold today and tomorrow in New York, United States ahead of the High-Level Week of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) where leaders are to take turns to address the gathering.

The Nigerian government said the team to grace Muhammad-Bande’s inauguration, who was elected president of the 74th session on June 4,2019 for a one-year tenure, would be led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama.

Other members are the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Rufa’i Abubakar, and the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President, Garba Shehu.
