Huge Discarded Bank Notes Surface in Bangladesh Water

Huge amount of discarded central bank notes were found floating on a water body in Bangladesh creating funny amusement to the people.

Enthusiastic people in Bangladesh continued to post the photos of torn currencies being collected from water bodies to their Facebook and they were also raising questions about the government’s negligence in controlling currency.

Local people at Shahjanpur upazila  in Bogura district discovered the discarded notes of Bangladesh Bank floating on the in a water-body, according to reports of Bangladesh media .

The central bank notes were supposed to be disposed at a designated place but the driver of a truck who was given the task to carry it there dumped it in the pond.

Bangladesh Bank had around 2000 sacks of abandoned Bank notes that they wanted to discard but they did not want to burn the notes as it would pollute the environment, acting Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank (Bogura Branch) Jagannath Chandra Ghosh was quoted as saying.

Some of the sacks full of rejected notes were handed over the municipality on Saturday as they are tasked with disposal of waste, the official said.

Meanwhile, Mamunur Rashid, in-charge of the Conservancy section of the Bogura municipality said a truck full of the rejected notes was sent for disposal at their designated dumping grounds.
