During the esteemed 3rd Australian Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management (IEOM), which took place from September 24-26, 2024, Dr. Ejohwomu, a Reader in Sustainable Built Environment and Project Management at The University of Manchester, UK, received this prestigious recognition. The award underscores Dr. Ejohwomu’s substantial contributions to enhancing project management education and research, particularly through the integration of sustainability and innovation within project management frameworks. His groundbreaking work continues to influence the evolution of project management education, effectively bridging the gap between academic theory and practical application in the built environment.
A Nigeria-born and UK-based academic, Dr. Ejohwomu serves as an External Examiner and Associate for over fifteen universities globally, including the University of Lincoln, Bedfordshire, West of England, Bristol, Wolverhampton, University of Johannesburg, and Caleb University in Nigeria. He has been honored as one of Manchester’s Heritage Heroes for his impactful research and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, leading the commercial and procurement management unit.
Among his numerous accolades, Dr. Ejohwomu received the Better World Showcase 2022 award for his exceptional contributions to environmental sustainability and was recognized for his significant efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. He has successfully managed grants exceeding GBP £1.3 million from esteemed funding bodies such as EPSRC, the Association of Project Management (APM), GCRF, Lloyds Register Foundation, NHS Foundation Trust, and UKRI. Additionally, he serves as the principal investigator for the high-impact multidisciplinary research project SQUARE, which examines the societal value of quality low-cost urban air monitoring in low-resource settings.
The 2024 IEOM Awards honor global leaders and innovators in industrial engineering, operations management, and related fields. Dr. Ejohwomu’s unwavering commitment to excellence and his influence within the project management discipline have established new benchmarks in education and research.
