National Blackout As TCN Power System Collapse

Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN has confirmed that the Nigerian power sector system has collapsed.

According to TCN, the collapse of the power system happened around 12:37 pm on Thursday, forcing the entire nation into total darkness.

TCN said: “Currently we are yet to ascertain the actual cause of the collapse. We will disclose the cause of the collapse after the system has been fixed.

“Dear Customer, the outage which occurred at 1237hrs is due to a TCN system collapse affecting Lekki, Ibeju & environs. The team is working to restore power. Please, bear with us.”

“Our men have already moved to restore the grid, we hope before the end of the day power will be restored.

Buttressing this claim, the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) in a tweet said the present power outage problem was from TCN.

“Dear Customer, the present power outage that is affecting everyone is a TCN System Disturbance on the National grid. ”Power will be restored as soon as available,” TCN said.
