Nigeria’s pioneering female fighter pilot, Flight Lieutenant Kafayat Omolara Sanni, has achieved another milestone by being named the Best Allied Student and receiving the Best Assistant Commandant Paper Award at the esteemed Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) in Accra.
Flt Lt Sanni’s exceptional performance at GAFCSC underscores her dedication, resilience, and leadership qualities, highlighting her role as a trailblazer for women in the Nigerian military.
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) lauded her achievement, stating it “not only symbolizes personal excellence and resilience but also highlights Nigeria’s emerging leadership in regional defense and its commitment to gender inclusion in the armed forces.”
Flt Lt Sanni first gained national recognition in 2019 when she was decorated as Nigeria’s first female fighter pilot after completing pilot training in the United States. Since then, she has flown the Alpha Jet and served as a skilled instructor pilot, conducting training sorties on the Super Mushshak and mentoring younger pilots within the Nigerian Air Force.
Her latest achievement reflects the Nigerian Air Force’s strategic focus on human capital development under the leadership of Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar.
Flt Lt Sanni’s success is an inspiring example of Nigeria’s commitment to gender inclusion and military excellence, encouraging women and girls across Nigeria and beyond to pursue careers in aviation and the armed forces.
