NYSC Seeks Entrepreneural Village In Ogun To Boost Skills Acquisition

State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Ogun State, Dr Belinda Faniyi has disclosed plans to establish Entrepreneural Village to boost corps members skills.

Speaking during the 2019 Batch ‘B’ Stream II orientation closing ceremony held at the Gateway International Stadium, Sagamu, Ogun State, she sought for the collaboration of both government and corporate organizations to achieve the proposed Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) village.

While distributing posting letters of primary place of services to 1,800 corps members in the State, Faniyi maintained that the SAED Village project would assists corps members achieved their dreams of jobs creation.

“SAED Village will afford corps members and their trainers take turns at the camp for intensive training.

“It will serve as in-camp training for corps during orientation and for Sagamu community when it is ready.

“It will have a fish pond. We plan to also have a  farm area where vegetable suckers, cassava, tomato, pepper will be planted on a two-hectares of land,” the Coordinator added.

She charged the corps members to continue with the training and introductory orientations received on the different skill training at the camp and continue to attend training in the state during the service period.

Faniyi lauded Governor of the state, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his firm support and commitment to the scheme and at the local government tier of governance.

She added: “I wish to reiterate the relevance of having the statutory NYSC State Governing Board and the NYSC Local Government Committee constituted and empowered to discharge their duties as stated in the Act establishing the scheme”.

Governor Dapo Abiodun, represented by Mr Kolawole Fagbohun, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth and Sports urged corps members in the state to play their assigned roles well as agents of change.

“You are, therefore, expected to make enduring and indelible contributions to our dear state during your service year and beyond. Undoubtedly, these are in affirmation of the objectives of the NYSC scheme.

“I trust that you will accept this assignment as a challenge and see it as an opportunity to contribute your roles to the continued development of our country. Our people are known for their hospitality and care,” he said.

Prince Dapo tasked the corps members to break new grounds and ultimately surpass the contributions made by their predecessors who have not relented in making the state better.

He added: “Our administration has provided the resources and enabling environment for you to have a peaceful and rewarding service year.

“It is our expectation that corps members will patriotically articulate “Building our Future Together” agenda and share our aspirations of providing a more prosperous life for all the people of Ogun State.   “And those who have made our dear state their home, irrespective of the geographical location, gender, religious and political affiliations and social stratification”.
