Ondo Workers’ Strike: Akeredolu Slates Labour Meeting For Monday

BY LEVI JOHNSON

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has slated between Monday 13 and Friday 15 to meet with the leadership of the Organised Labour in the state with a view to averting the proposed industrial action.

Akeredolu stated this through his Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Donald Ojogo, adding that the issues raised by the workers were not new.

The Governor stated that they were not peculiar to Ondo State, especially during this period that compelled states to undergo unpleasant economic challenges following the drastic drop in both Federation Allocation Account and Internally Generated Revenue.

He said his administration has always considered the welfare of workers very paramount and would not play politics with his commitment to them.

According to him: “It is on record that as at today, Ondo State ranks among those states with a higher level of worker-friendliness among the comity of States in Nigeria.

“Our inherited liabilities, as well as unforeseen occurrences notwithstanding, this culture of commitment, shall be heightened.

“In this regard, Mr Governor will meet the leadership of all such concerned bodies between Monday 13 and Wednesday 15 of July 2020. This is with a view to engendering a very robust engagement and interface.”
