A policeman has accidentally killed a passerby in Abuja when the force clashed with members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) otherwise known as Shi’ites.
An eye witness said the victim was killed when the police fired gunshots and tear gas canisters to disperse the protesting Shi’ites at Berger, Wuse in Abuja.
At the sight of the police force, the scores of protesting Shiites and the casualty on the floor, many commuters took to their heels to avoid stray bullets. The body was said to have been moved away by the police.

The Shiites protest may not be unconnected to the release of their leader, El-Zakzaky.
Recall that the Shi’ites have been demanding unconditional release of their leader, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife.
