PDP Stalwarts Sing As Supreme Court Affirms Diri’s Victory

BY MARY KUYE

The Supreme Court has on Wednesday affirmed that the People’s Democratic Party gubernatorial candidate, Douye Diri was the winner of the February 13 judgement of the apex court.

The pronouncement by the Supreme Court Justices on Wednesday which upheld earlier judgement has equally nullified the governorship electoral victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State.

The apex court in its judgement insisted that there must be an end to litigation in the country.

Wednesday’s Judgement which happens to be the final verdict of Supreme Court on Bayelsa State election implied that Senator Douye Diri would govern the state for four years.

PDP leaders were seen in wild jubilation, shouting and dancing to mark the end to the litigation, which caused tension in the state.

The knowledge of the victory on Wednesday spurred Governor Diri and other PDP chieftains into spiritual songs of praise to God.

PDP stalwarts after the verdict practically gathered at the Abuja residence of the immediate past governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson for service of song.

Present at the service of the song were Seriake Dickson, governor Douye Diri, Cleopas Moses, the state Chairman, PDP,  and other PDP stalwarts.

Dickson turned choir master led Diri, in most of the songs while Major Lance and Cleaopas rounded off the service of song with prayers.

They all knelt down for over 20 minutes singing and praying to thank God for the final pronouncement of the court and the PDP victory, which they described as a miracle.

The camp of the APC and its leaders were, however, left in shock at the decision of the Supreme Court to throw out its application for a review.
