Sowore Predicts Major Political Shift Ahead of 2027

Omoyele Sowore

By DAYO ADESULU

Presidential candidate and rights activist Omoyele Sowore has launched a fresh attack on leading political figures, declaring that the “old order” in Nigeria’s politics is collapsing and will be swept aside at the next general election. In a fiery address, he said the electorate has become more politically conscious and ready to “retire” President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through the ballot in 2027.

According to Sowore, the political class has long acted with impunity, assuming that power could be allocated in Abuja without the consent of the masses. However, he argued that recent political developments have shown a clear shift in public mood, especially among young people who, he said, have “woken up” to their civic power.

“We Have Humbled Wike,” Sowore Says

Sowore claimed that the influence of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has diminished significantly, insisting that the days of political intimidation are over. He argued that the Nigerian public has demonstrated that no individual or political figure controls the country’s democratic direction.

He stated that the perceived grip of powerful individuals is weakening because Nigerians are more determined than ever to challenge political dominance and demand accountability.

“This idea that a few people could gather in the capital and decide the fate of millions is gone,” he said. “Nigerians have shown that real power resides with them, not with any single politician.”

Tinubu’s Presidency “Will End Through the Ballot”

Sowore went further to predict that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would lose his re-election bid in 2027. He stressed that the change he anticipates will not come through violence or manipulation, but through a united electorate that has grown tired of economic hardship, insecurity, and what he called a failure of governance.

He maintained that Nigerians are frustrated with corruption, worsening living costs, and a system he believes has not provided security, equity, or prosperity. This, he said, will fuel a major political realignment by 2027.

He emphasised that “the ballot box, not chaos,” will be the instrument of change.

Youth as the Backbone of a New Political Movement

A significant part of Sowore’s message focused on Nigeria’s youth population. He argued that young Nigerians have become more aware of their political relevance and increasingly unwilling to recycle leaders they believe have failed the country.

He described the rising youth activism as the “beginning of the end of a failed political order” and insisted that young voters will be the primary force behind what he labelled a “peaceful political revolution.”

According to him, the energy, anger, and aspirations of Nigerian youths will shape a new, people-driven movement that transcends political parties and established political structures.

“2027 Is Wide Open,” Sowore Insists

Contrary to claims that the 2027 election is already predetermined, Sowore argued that the race remains open and will ultimately reflect the will of Nigerians. He said citizens hold the decisive power to choose the country’s next direction, and he predicted a democratic end to the Tinubu presidency.

He maintained that no political godfather, governor, or federal figure can impose a predetermined outcome in 2027, warning that attempts to repeat old political tactics will be rejected by a more politically aware electorate.

Building a Movement “Bigger Than Parties”

Sowore revealed that ongoing mobilisation efforts aim to create a national movement rooted in justice, equity, freedom, and development. He positioned this emerging movement as larger than any political party or individual, stressing that its goal is to reorganise Nigeria’s political system in favour of transparency and good governance.

He declared that the era of unchecked impunity has ended and warned that Nigerian voters are ready to express their dissatisfaction decisively at the polls.

In a pointed message, he said the political establishment should take heed because “the people are coming.”
