Sowore’s Detention: We’ll Decide After Consultation with My Client – FALANA

Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana has vow to consult with Omoyele Sowore, court ruled on Wednesday against his client’s request.

Falana made the remark in an interview with newsmen shortly after Justice Nkeonye Maha refused to grant Sowore’s request.

The Department of State Services had detained Sowore for 45 days over #RevolutionNow protests.

NAN reports that Justice Taiwo Taiwo had in a ruling on August 8 in an  application, ordered Sowore’s detention. For the 45 days to enable the DSS carry out and conclude its investigation on allegations levied against him.

Falana asked the court to set aside the order granted by Justice Taiwo. Justice Maha had earlier rejected the Sowore’s application.

Justice Maha referred the matter back to Justice Taiwo for further hearing,  Maha explained that  it was not in the act of the court to overrule the decision of court of jurisdiction.

Responding, Falana said: “We are going to consult our client with respect to our next step.
“The court has just delivered its ruling. And we are going to meet with our client today in order to take a decision on the matter. “In the interim, we are back to Hon Justice Taiwo for the ruling of the court.”

“I take instructions from clients.  I am going to discuss the ruling with my client so that we can take appropriate decision.”
