2023 Presidency: PDP Declares That APC Has No Eligible Candidate

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) asserts that the All Progressives Congress (APC) lacks a legitimate candidate for the 2023 presidential election (PDP).
At a press conference held on Saturday at the party headquarters, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP’s national publicity secretary, claimed that the invalidation of Gboyega Oyetola’s bid for governor of Osun State proved the party’s stance that the executives and candidates chosen by Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe were unconstitutional.
The nomination of Governor Isiaka Oyetola and his deputy, Benedict Alabi, as APC candidates for the Osun State governorship election was revoked last week by a Federal High Court in Abuja.
The presiding judge, Justice Emeka Nwite, revoked the nominations of Oyetola and his deputy on the grounds that Buni, who issued their tickets, committed a legal error by holding two executive positions at once in violation of the Constitution.

The Federal High Court’s ruling, according to Olgunagba, means that all of Buni’s decisions, including overseeing the election that produced the Abdullahi Adamu APC leadership and, consequently, the primary that elected Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, are invalid.
He urged Nigerians to support Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s presidential candidate, instead than wasting their ballots.
On Friday, September 30, 2022, the Federal High Court in Abuja declared Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s candidacy for the July 16 governorship election in Osun State invalid on the grounds that his nomination had been made and submitted in violation of Section 183 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) Constitution by Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State.
“The Congresses and National Convention, particularly the NWC led by Sen. Adamu Abdullahi, which generated APC EXCOs, are null and invalid. In essence, Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s nomination as the APC’s presidential candidate, as well as the primary elections and presidential convention run by the Sen. Adamu-led NWC, are illegitimate, void, and unconstitutional from the start.
Tinubu should return home and deal with “problems of contradictions in his educational qualifications, name, heritage, age, as well as corruption claims,” according to Ologunagba, who also said that he had nothing to contribute.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was ready for an issue-based campaign and that they would officially launch their 2023 presidential election campaign on Monday, October 10, 2022 in Uyo, the capital of the Akwa Ibom State.
According to the National Executive Committee (NEC) of our Party, “The PDP will conduct its campaign in all States, Local Government Areas, Wards, and Polling Units across the nation.”
