United States President Donald Trump has issued one of his most sweeping and confrontational warnings yet to Iran, declaring that the country would face total destruction if any assassination attempt against him succeeds.

Trump made the remarks while responding to questions from reporters about alleged assassination threats from Iran’s leadership, amid renewed unrest inside the Middle Eastern nation and rising tensions in U.S.–Iran relations.

Trump Reacts to Reported Threats From Iran

Speaking to journalists, Trump reacted to reports that Iranian authorities had allegedly issued threats against him, while also facing accusations of brutal repression of protesters within the country.

A reporter told the U.S. president that there were claims Iranian authorities were “burning thousands of protesters alive” and had issued assassination threats against him over the weekend, asking how Trump viewed Iran’s continued defiance—particularly after he recently suggested that the country needed new leadership.

Trump responded by saying he had already taken steps to address the situation.

“Well, they shouldn’t be doing it, but I’ve left notification,” he said.

Moments later, the former president escalated his rhetoric dramatically.

“Anything ever happens, we’re going to blow— the whole country is going to get blown up,” Trump warned.

‘Wipe Them Off the Face of the Earth’

Doubling down on his comments, Trump stressed that he had issued what he described as “very firm instructions” regarding how any assassination attempt against him should be handled.

“But I have very firm instructions,” he said. “Anything happens, they’re going to wipe them off the face of this earth.”

The statement has since triggered widespread reactions across diplomatic, political, and security circles, with analysts warning that such language could further inflame an already fragile geopolitical situation.

Trump Criticises Biden Over Iran Response

In the same exchange, Trump turned his criticism toward former U.S. President Joe Biden, accusing him of failing to respond forcefully enough to threats from Iran during his time in office.

Trump argued that leaders, regardless of political affiliation, have a duty to defend one another when national security threats emerge.

“So we’ve, you know, originally Biden should have said something,” Trump said. “When they made a statement, we always said, why isn’t Biden saying anything? Because he didn’t.”

He added that even if political differences exist, the office of the presidency must be protected at all costs.

“But a president has to defend a president,” Trump said. “If I were here and they were making that threat to somebody—even not even a president—but somebody like they did with me, I would absolutely hit them so hard.”

Growing Strain in U.S.–Iran Relations

Trump’s comments come at a time of renewed tension between Washington and Tehran. Iran has faced weeks of protests and international criticism over alleged human rights abuses and internal repression.

Trump has openly called for regime change in Iran, arguing that the country’s leadership has failed its people.

“It’s time to look for new leadership in Iran,” he said in a recent interview with Politico.

However, the White House did not immediately respond to requests for clarification or comment regarding Trump’s latest remarks and the implications for official U.S. foreign policy.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Responds

Trump’s warning followed a defiant address by Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who accused the former U.S. president of encouraging unrest within Iran.

Khamenei described Trump as “a criminal,” blaming him for casualties, damages, and what he called slander directed at the Iranian nation.

Iran’s semi-official Fars news agency later reported that protests across the country had largely subsided, with authorities claiming that key agitators had been detained.

Trump Fires Back at Khamenei

In response, Trump launched a personal attack on the Iranian leader, describing Khamenei as “a sick man” and accusing him of mismanaging the country.

“He should run his country properly and stop killing people,” Trump said.

The exchange of rhetoric has raised concerns among international observers about the potential consequences of further escalation, particularly given the long history of hostility between the two nations.

Global Reactions and Diplomatic Concerns

Foreign policy experts warn that Trump’s threat to “wipe Iran off the face of the earth” could heighten diplomatic tensions and increase instability in the Middle East, especially if interpreted as a policy position rather than political rhetoric.

As scrutiny intensifies, questions remain about how such statements could affect global security, ongoing negotiations, and the already strained relationship between Iran and Western powers.

For now, Trump’s comments have once again placed U.S.–Iran relations at the center of global attention, underscoring how volatile rhetoric can quickly reshape international discourse.
