WAEC Refutes Rumours On Headquarters’ Inferno

BY DAYO ADESULU

The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has refuted the news making the round that its Abuja headquarters has been gutted by fire.

Mr Demianus Ojijeogu, the Head of Public Affairs in a  statement on Thursday said that neither the Council’s headquarters (in Lagos) nor any of its offices across Nigeria experienced any fire incident.

His words: “The attention of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has been drawn to rumours being peddled by some online media that there was a fire outbreak at WAEC Headquarters, Abuja.

“We hereby categorically state that there was no fire incident at WAEC Headquarters or any WAEC office in Nigeria, for that matter.

“The publication is false and it is the handiwork of mischief-makers who are out to misinform, mislead and confuse the candidates and members of the general public.
