WAEC Registrar Bows Out Of Office In 2 Weeks

The Registrar, West African Examination Council, WAEC, Dr. Iyi Uwadiae has disclosed that in two weeks, he will be retiring from office as the registrar of the Council.
The Registrar spoke to journalists  through a conference call from his office in Accra, Ghana.
He, however didn’t disclose who will succeed him.
According to him, it is the practice of the Council not to disclose the successor until the present Registrar leaves office.
Dr. Iyi Uwadiae who assumed office as the registrar in 2012, said he has contributed his quota to the development of WAEC.

Dr. Iyi Uwadiae hails from Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria.

He holds the National Certificate of Education (NCE) of the University of Lagos, B.Ed (Mathematics) from the University of Benin, M.Ed and Ph.D (Educational Evaluation) from the University of Ibadan.

He worked as a teacher of Mathematics at various institutions and levels of education in Nigeria and rose to the position of Head of Mathematics Department at the College of Education, Benin.

He joined the service of WAEC on November 1, 1985 as an Assistant Registrar and served the Council in various positions of trust and responsibility as he rose through the ranks.

He was promoted Deputy Registrar in 2003 and elevated to the headship of the Council’s Research Division and Headquarters Office, Lagos in 2005.

He was subsequently appointed the Head of Nigeria National Office of the Council in 2008, a position he held till September 2012.
