Anambra Restricts Tankers’ Movement As 4 Petroleum Tanks Fall Within 10 Days,

Anambra State has announced restriction of tankers with petroleum products in all parts of the state.

”The restriction was due to the incessant collapse of trucks carrying petroleum products in Anambra State,” Don Adinuba, Information Commissioner said.

Adinuba said the state government has restricted the movement of tankers with petroleum products in all parts of the state.

Mr Adinuba said four tankers loaded with petroleum products fell  in the past ten days

”One of the incidences claimed many lives and destroyed property worth billions of naira in Ochanja Market,” Adinuba said.

The Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr Don Adinuba said this in Awka.

Adinuba said from Saturday, November 2, such vehicles could only be allowed in Anambra from 8 pm to 5 am.

Mr Adinuba said: ”The restriction was to enable government agencies to respond to emergency created buy previous accidents.

”Anambra State Fire Service, Nigeria Police Force, Federal Road Safety Corps and Anambra Traffic Management Agency will work.

“The Nigeria Police Force will enforce the restriction order in the state.

“Anambra State Police Command will also ensures that drivers obey the speed limit of 50 kilometres per hour on tanker drivers.

“Any violation of either the time restriction order or the speed limit will be punished accordingly.”
