ASUU Accuses FG Of Using IPPIS As Tool For Attention Diversion

Academic Staff Union of Universities, Federal University of Kashere, Gombe State chapter, has said the Federal Government is using the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System as a strategy to divert attention from the MOUs and MOAs it signed with the union.

The union also said that nothing would deter it from pursuing what was best for the university system.

The chapter stressed its resolution to abide by the ‘No pay, No work’ rule of the union.

The union’s Chairperson, Dr Ahmed Yauta, said, “The public should note that this government failed in its promises and agreements entered with the union in revitalizing Nigerian Universities.

It is therefore imperative to note that the federal government is using the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System as a strategy to divert the union’s attention on the MOUs and MOAs since 2009.

“An injury to one is an injury to all. The branch urges members to remain calm, steadfast and resolute in the face of intimidation.

Yauta stressed that the stoppage of their salaries would not deter them “until the federal government does what is right for the development of our universities and education in general” stressing that “the union has repeatedly pointed out that enrolling into the IPPIS  is not in the interest of academics and university education”.
