Addressing Infrastructure Challenges for Commuters

The Federal Government has announced the commencement of urgent repair work on a critical 7-kilometer stretch of the Lagos-Sango-Otta-Abeokuta road, which has suffered from significant neglect in recent years. This vital route serves thousands of commuters daily, making its condition a pressing concern.

Commitment to Infrastructure Improvement

The announcement was made on Wednesday by Uchenna Orji, the Special Adviser to the Minister of Works. In a statement, Orji highlighted the government’s dedication to tackling the pressing infrastructure issues affecting travelers.

“The road has been bad for some time, and the Federal Ministry of Works is bringing relief to the dilapidated sections in collaboration with the concessionaire,” he stated.

Part of the ‘Operation Free Our Roads’ Initiative

The repair project is part of a larger national strategy known as ‘Operation Free Our Roads,’ designed to enhance the overall condition of federal roadways across Nigeria.

Orji emphasized, “The Federal Ministry of Works, under the leadership of His Excellency, Sen. Engr. Nweze David Umahi CON, is committed to providing relief to motorists and commuters on all federal roads nationwide.”

Addressing Commuter Frustrations

Residents and motorists have long voiced their frustrations regarding the poor state of the road, which has resulted in longer travel times and increased safety risks.

“With these emergency repairs underway, the government aims to restore smooth transit for the thousands who rely on this vital route daily,” Orji added.

Through these efforts, the Federal Government is taking significant steps towards improving road infrastructure and enhancing the safety and efficiency of travel for all Nigerians.
