Federal Poly Ede Students Slam Rector For Treating Cultists With Kid-glove

The Federal Polytechnic Ede students have condemned the institution’s authorities’ silence on cultism, adding that cultists on campus are being treated with kid-glove

A video that captured student cultists’ demonstration in their uniform ( In a touch of yellows), cruising with cars during their last paper in early August on the campus had long hit the social media space.
The Student-cultists (Alora in yellow) were seen rallying from the school main gate to the school sports complex, where they had their meeting, to celebrate their last paper.
Following the cultists’ display in the institution, it is shameful that the management had chosen to remain adamant about the activities of the culprits, rebutting pieces of evidence.
The culprits, despite demonstrating in front of the Administrative Building of the School have continued to enjoy “pardon” in a citadel believed to be known for “Skills and characters”.
Findings have shown that cultism and other forms of social vices are prevalent in the Nigerian Polytechnic and have increased tremendously in recent times.
In fact, the cult-related activities have been instrumental to most of the vices like drug abuse, armed robbery and insecurity witnessed in the school environs recently.
Meanwhile, concerns have been raised by well-meaning Nigerians as to the safety of Students and Staff in the school.
Some students, residents of Ede who spoke under the condition of anonymity expressed concern that the management is toying with their dear lives.
“Federal Polytechnic Ede is no more safe for students, Management was aware of the cultist display right in front of the Administrative building and no action was taken to arrest them, are we safe?” the student inquired.
Another student who did not want his name in print lamented on the worsening security in the school community.
According to him ”Just imagine, robbery everywhere,  thugs attack Students is getting too much, the cultists’ violence is troubling, they go around with guns”.
“I witnessed one around my hostel last week, where the cultists attacked a guy believed to be one of them, they constituted disturbance in the community and spelt stones on their colleague’s apartment who refused to come out from his room”.
“If the management will remain silence then they are involved”.
Speaking on the display, an indigene told this Newspaper that “whenever I see the cultists fear to grip me, they are deadly, it is the management that is giving them a position in the school, that is what I can say”.
Asked what he meant by management giving them position, he further explained that ” Cultists are everywhere but in the case of Federal Polytechnic Ede where they were given access into the campus to have their meeting, it is a strong signal that the Management is encouraging such act”.
Meanwhile, sources in the citadel have hinted that some of the culprits are already undergoing their final clearance – an indication that the management has overlooked their act of lawlessness.
