Three kidnappers suspected to be bandits attacked Pelachiroma village in the Hawul Local Government Area of Borno state, they killed a pregnant woman named Mrs. Mary Barka with firearms made locally in Awka.
The accused were given to Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Hawul, Habila Lemaka after being subsequently detained by Chairman of Hunters, Mohammed Shawulu Yohanna.
In an interview with journalists on Monday, Yohanna, the vigilante/hunters’ leader, claimed that the incident had been reported a few days earlier after the suspects had raided the hamlet and made unsuccessful attempts to capture their intended victims.
He lamented that Mary Barka, a pregnant woman, had been killed by the suspects, who are now being interrogated by police.
The Hawul Local Government area’s Pelachiroma village was the scene of an alleged bandit raid. The four suspects who attempted to kidnap Mr. Barka Paul Sawa were captured after I immediately dispatched my team to the area that evening. This was possible since Sawa had given the suspects his cattle to care for.
“Unfortunately, the bandits were successful in killing Mrs. Mary Barka Paul Sawa, who was Sawa’s wife.
“I have subsequently given the four suspects—fulanis—who confessed to the crime when they were detained to the DPO of Hawul, Habila Lemaka.
The perpetrators are anticipated to be brought to the Borno State Police Command for additional questioning and legal action. Yohanna remarked.
