France to Repatriate $150 Million in Stolen Funds Tied to Ex-Nigerian Leader Sani Abacha

France has announced that it will return $150 million, another portion of the stolen funds linked to Sani Abacha, the former Nigerian military leader.

The announcement was made by Ajuri Ngelale, the special adviser to the president on media and publicity.

The return of the funds was confirmed after a meeting between President Bola Tinubu and Catherine Colonna, the minister of Europe and foreign affairs of France.

Tinubu expressed gratitude for the return of the funds and assured that they would be used for the development of Nigeria.

Tinubu also emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between Nigeria and France in both political and economic aspects.

Colonna conveyed the goodwill of French President Emmanuel Macron and expressed France’s readiness to expand collaboration with Nigeria in various sectors.

The repatriation of the stolen funds followed a lengthy legal process, and the minister lauded the achievement.

France also extended a formal invitation to President Tinubu to attend the upcoming Paris Peace Forum.
