Gunmen Kill Two Youths In Kaduna

Gunmen have killed two youths at Gora Dan in Zango-Kataf Local Government Area in Southern Kaduna State.

The armed men who came in large numbers invaded the village and opened fire on youths at the market square in the area.

The attack was said to have occurred Friday evening.

A source who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity said the gunmen in their numbers invaded the village market square shooting indiscriminately and in the process, two persons were killed.

According to him, the gunmen came on motorbikes in large numbers and started shooting at everything in sight and killed two women.

He added that others sustained varying degrees of injuries and are receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.

He said the villagers were taken unawares by this latest attack, adding that security operatives had been deployed in the area.

According to the Chairman of the Zango Kataf LGA, Mr. Elias Manza, while confirming the attack said the incident took place on Friday evening at the village market square.

Manza said the attack claimed two female lives while two others had gunshot wounds, adding that they are receiving treatment in a hospital that he didn’t disclose.

He called for caution and vigilance among the residents of the area just as he appealed for calm, urging the people to report any suspicious movement to the security operatives in the community.

He said, “The attackers came on motorcycles and opened fire on the youths playing, killing two females while two males sustained injuries.

“The injured are currently receiving treatment, but normalcy has been restored to the area.”

Meanwhile, as of the time of filing this report, the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yakubu Sabo,  could not be reached as his mobile telephone rang out when calls were put across to him. He didn’t reply a text message sent to him either.
