GAZA – The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has announced the destruction of three Hamas weapons storage facilities across different parts of the Gaza Strip, saying the operation was aimed at eliminating threats to Israeli troops and civilians.
According to a statement released by the IDF, the strikes were carried out over the past week and targeted facilities allegedly used by Hamas to store a range of weapons and military equipment.
The military said the sites contained explosive devices, assault rifles, sniper rifles, and other combat materials. It added that one of the facilities housed about 10 pickup trucks allegedly used by Hamas for military operations, all of which were destroyed during the operation.
The IDF stated that the weapons and vehicles posed a direct threat to Israeli soldiers operating near the Yellow Line as well as Israeli civilians. The military said the assets were dismantled to prevent their future use in attacks.
Following the strikes, the IDF reported that secondary explosions were observed at the targeted locations, which it said indicated the presence of stored weapons and ammunition inside the facilities.
Israeli military authorities also said precautions were taken before the attacks to reduce the risk of civilian casualties. These measures reportedly included the use of precision-guided munitions and aerial surveillance to verify targets.
The operation comes as Israeli forces continue to maintain a presence in designated areas under the terms of the ceasefire agreement. The IDF said troops operating under the Southern Command remain deployed and will continue carrying out missions aimed at removing what it described as immediate security threats.
The latest development underscores ongoing security tensions in Gaza despite efforts to maintain the ceasefire, with both sides continuing to accuse each other of actions that threaten stability in the region.
