GAZA – The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Israel Security Agency (ISA) say they have killed two senior Hamas operatives in separate precision strikes in the Gaza Strip, accusing both men of playing key roles in the October 7, 2023 attacks and subsequent hostage operations.
According to a joint IDF and ISA statement, one of those killed was Adham Ibrahim Sha’aban Nasman, identified as the Head of the Operations Department of Hamas’ Gaza City Brigade.
Israeli authorities said Nasman was eliminated during a strike in Gaza City on Saturday.
Hamas Operations Chief Accused of Directing October 7 Infiltration
The IDF alleged that Nasman, who previously served as a commander in Hamas’ elite Nukhba force, directed the infiltration of Gaza City Brigade militants into Israeli territory during the October 7 attacks.
Israel also accused him of participating in the captivity of several Israeli hostages during the war, including Romi Gonen, Emily Damari, Ziv and Gali Berman, Eitan Mor, Matan Angrest, and Omri Miran.
Military officials further claimed that Nasman previously served as the Gaza City Brigade’s intelligence officer and commander of the Al-Shati Battalion, where he allegedly planned and coordinated numerous attacks against Israeli forces.
The IDF said that in recent months he had been involved in rebuilding Hamas’ military infrastructure by training fighters and overseeing the production and distribution of weapons, actions Israel says violated the existing ceasefire arrangements.
Second Strike Targets Commander Linked to Kibbutz Nir Oz Abductions
In a separate operation on Sunday, the IDF announced the killing of Asma Kamal Shehadeh Abu Tim, described as a Hamas military wing cell commander, during a strike in southern Gaza.
According to the Israeli military, Abu Tim infiltrated Kibbutz Nir Oz during the October 7 attack and participated in the abduction of Nurit Cooper, Amiram Cooper, and Alexander Dancyg.
The IDF also accused him of continuing to coordinate attacks against Israeli troops and civilians throughout the conflict.
Israeli Military Says Precautions Were Taken
The Israeli military said both operations were carried out using precise intelligence and precision-guided munitions. It added that aerial surveillance and other measures were employed to reduce the risk of civilian casualties before the strikes.
The IDF said its forces remain deployed across southern Gaza and will continue operations aimed at eliminating what it described as immediate security threats.
Hamas had not immediately commented on the Israeli claims at the time of publication.
