The Israel Defense Forces has announced the death of Major (Reserve) Itamar Sapir, who was killed during combat operations in southern Lebanon.

According to the military, the 27-year-old officer hailed from the community of Eli in the Binyamin region. Sapir served as a company commander in the elite Maglan Unit, one of Israel’s highly trained special operations forces.

The announcement has sparked emotional reactions across Israeli communities, with many paying tribute to the fallen officer for his service and sacrifice during the ongoing security operations along Israel’s northern front.

Military officials disclosed that Sapir is survived by his wife, Maayan, and their one-and-a-half-year-old son. Tributes have continued to pour in from supporters, friends, and members of the public, many describing him as a courageous soldier dedicated to defending his homeland.

The latest casualty comes amid intensified clashes and military activities in southern Lebanon, where tensions have remained high between Israeli forces and armed groups operating in the region.

Observers say the conflict has continued to claim lives on both sides, while international calls for restraint and de-escalation grow louder.

Several social media users and supporters expressed sorrow following the announcement, offering condolences to the bereaved family and honoring Sapir’s memory.

Many described the late commander as a symbol of bravery and patriotism, while others prayed for peace and an end to the violence in the region.
