The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has granted a final extension to November 30, 2026, for candidates with outstanding admission offers from the 2021 to 2025 admission exercises to either accept or reject those offers.
The decision follows the temporary unavailability of the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) for about 96 hours, which affected candidates and institutions using the platform to process admission-related activities.
JAMB had previously fixed September 30, 2026, as the deadline for candidates with outstanding offers from the 2021–2025 admission exercises. However, following the recent CAPS disruption, the Board has now approved November 30 as the final date for affected candidates to regularise their admission decisions.
JAMB Outstanding Admission Deadline Extended to November 30
According to the Board, the extension is designed to give candidates affected by the CAPS disruption another opportunity to update their admission records.
JAMB stressed that the new deadline is final.
Candidates with outstanding admission offers from the 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 admission exercises are therefore expected to log into their JAMB profiles and indicate whether they wish to accept or reject the offers before November 30.
The Board warned that candidates who fail to act before the deadline will not be allowed to accept or reject the outstanding offers within the current window.
Any request made after the deadline to update an admission record relating to the affected years will attract the applicable penalty fee.
JAMB said the penalty is necessary because the admission offers have remained outstanding for several years, giving candidates sufficient time to take action.
Why Candidates Should Act Before the Deadline
The issue is particularly important for candidates whose admissions are not properly reflected on the JAMB matriculation list.
An admission that is not properly documented can create challenges when candidates need to access benefits and services tied to recognised tertiary education records.
One important example is participation in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.
JAMB therefore urged all affected candidates not to wait until the final days of the extension before taking action.
What Happens After Accepting an Outstanding Admission?
Candidates who decide to accept their outstanding admission offers will be able to proceed with the process of printing their JAMB admission letters.
This will enable their admission records to reflect the decision made on the CAPS platform.

Candidates Studying a Different Programme Can Regularise Their Records

Such candidates may accept the outstanding admission and subsequently apply for the appropriate correction or deletion of the previous admission, where applicable.
This, the Board explained, will help ensure that the candidate’s admission status and records are properly updated.
Similarly, candidates who are currently pursuing a second degree but still have an unaccepted admission offer from an earlier admission exercise may reject the old offer and continue with their current programme.
2026 Admission Candidates Have No Cause for Alarm
JAMB also provided clarification for candidates who have received admission offers for the 2026 admission exercise but still have an outstanding admission offer from a previous year.
The Board said such candidates have no reason to be apprehensive.
According to JAMB, they may reject the previous admission offer, and doing so will not affect their 2026 admission.
This clarification could be particularly important for candidates whose current admission is being processed while an older offer remains outstanding on their JAMB profile.
All Outstanding Offers Will Revert to “Not Admitted”
JAMB reiterated that November 30, 2026, is the final deadline for candidates to accept or reject outstanding admissions from the 2021–2025 admission exercises.
At the expiration of the deadline, all outstanding offers from those admission years that have neither been accepted nor rejected will automatically revert to “Not Admitted” status on the Board’s records.
